Borderlands 2: A Work of Art
The unique art style of Borderlands and it's sequel shaped the whole game, from story to monsters to the whacky and wonderful cast. To promote the release of Borderlands 2, we created a 20ft graffiti mural. It was streamed live across the world from Gamescom 2012 in Cologne. As each element was painted, it released exclusive new content online. After the event, fans could enter our tweetstake to win a piece of the art.
During the event we had a little fun for those watching live from the Gearbox software forums, giving them a special piece of Claptrap's art which was only available in the site backend.
A Work of Art has been nominated for several awards including the Shorty Awards 2012. It won Best community Engagement at the Somecomms Awards 2012, and Best Social Media Strategy at the Game Connection Awards 2012.
